Well it works :) A weekend of wire cutting, striping and soldering and it works wonderfully. I was unsure if I'd really notice the difference between this and my little Marshall tranny practise amp. They are like chalk and cheese. The tube tones are lush! As you bring the gain up you get a nutty crunch with sweet harmonic over tones. I found myself playing inversions up the neck, which sound harsh on the solid-state amp. Nice....

It arrived! The amp kit from ampmaker arrived this morning. Great quality kit. Plenty of nuts, bolts, and wire. Photo's tomorrow.
A gentle evenings work has the chassis complete, apart form trimming the pot stalks, but I'm too knackered :)
Tomorrow I will break out the soldering iron.
I've had to rething MII a bit. There's not enough clearence between the back panel and the valves. So here's Mark IV:

The addition of a matching perspex panel, also at a 45 degree angle, allows me to slope the rear outwards and give the
amp some breathing room. I like this design. It's more yummy!

I am going to mock up the Mark II. It looks scrummy but it's going to be a tight fit dropping the 12" speaker in, even with the back off.
I have a plentiful supply of carboard boxes so a full size model will be posible.
If the speaker goes in, the Mark II will become reality.
A page of other similar 1x12" combo dimensions.

MII and MIII Side by Side.

Mark III
Plenty of room. Looks like a washing machine :)
Mark II
Squeezed to the max!

Mark I
Ideas for Mark II: Could be smaller. Mark I is Too tall. Too deep.
Will need to lose sloping rear.
Front:

Rear. Note feature window!

Started with arrangement of speaker and amp. How to make compact...

Amp tray with rear lip to prevent accidental slippage of amp chassis while fitting.
